Short Notice Skeptic Conservative: Late April Wildcard Show — 4/27/13

UPDATE: In my infinite wisdom I failed to sound check my microphone again at the start of the show and was talking to dead air for twenty minutes. Kudos are due to user “W Dean Shook” for poking his nose in and pointing this out so the show was not a complete loss. It goes without saying — skip twenty minutes ahead of the complete dead air and relish in the mess until I have the time to go back, edit, and repost the show. As I’m prone to saying, I bring you only the finest in broadcasting excellence!

It is what the title says it is. Because my friends bugged me to and on my whims…Have a show!

Still figuring out exactly what I’ll be addressing, but suggestions are welcome. I know, this is really short notice but sometimes it’s best to roll with inspiration when it strikes.

I also need to test my new recording space and set-up, and testing shows always feel like such a waste of time and effort. So this will be rough around the edges! And heck, I have to start churning out content again, somehow, and I’m not getting any younger…

Rough Show Itinerary:

  • Where the F have you been?
  • Who the F are you and what do you stand for?
  • Why the long silence?
  • What the F is up with Boston and surrounding events?
  • Open floor for questions.

Half Test, Half Actual Content.

TheDougem Drives, where I rant in my car in order to make use of all the damn time I spend driving. Consider this my ‘unplugged’ segments. I’ll probably go off on tangents, I’ll rant, get pumped up, and probably bellow some since usually I’ll be talking about things that piss me off. Don’t turn this up too loud!

In this inaugural rant I discuss Breitbart’s death and the tone of commentary surrounding it as well as the broader political sphere.

Listen to
internet radio with TheDougem on Blog Talk Radio

That was a fun show! Far less attendence then the previous one (8 live) but I am not unhappy with this – I’m used to spikes in attendence and frankly it’s normal.

Show notes and thoughts after the jump.

December 2011 Post Round-up

A little late, I know, but here it is! Remember folks, I do a -lot- of writing, and it’s easy to miss articles in between the cracks. I want this blog to be archive friendly and this seems to be the best way to do it with wordpress – please let me know if I can make this at all friendlier or better formatted!

BREAKING: Kim Jong Il of North Korea – DEAD

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/A/AS_KOREA_KIM_JONG_IL?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2011-12-18-22-08-46

Thank you Drudge!

And Pajamas Media!

The best timestamp I can put on this is ~7:30pm Pacific Time

Normally this would warrant a Short Notice Skeptic Conservative Podcast in the veins of the fabled “Bin Laden is Dead” show, done 2 hours after the event took place.

Instead, I encourage all of you to listen in to Flyoverterritory’s Show for tonight, as he might break it down later on in the broadcast.

What does Kim’s death mean? It could mean a lot of things! It certainly puts a death clock on the North Korean regime.

I’ll break this down here as the night goes on – After the jump below. Newbies should look here! Anyone should ask questions regarding North Korea via comment here and they will be addressed!

Skeptic Conservative Podcast #13 – 12/16/2011

…can be found here!

Highlights of the show included flyoverterritory dropping by twice, for likely an hour’s worth of phone time total, and a passionate discussion about lightbulbs.

This show covered:

  • A close of the Iraq War
  • Thoughts on Iraq and Afghanistan strategy and comparisons to Vietnam
  • The whole drone situation with Iran and the civilian vs. military struggle that let it happen
  • Thoughts on the Occupy movement and their reclaim ports day that sizzled – specifically Seattle
  • Lightbulbs, congress, and you

I have been convinced by the show and the discussion it spurred to eventually do an entire two hours on the ills of progressivism. Certain audience members who shall go unnamed apparently need a quick crash course in why government mandates from on high are a terrible way not only to make a point and to accomplish your goal, but actually encourage defiance and opposition! In a nutshell – it’s not exactly what is being banned, it’s the principle that banning apparently is necessary, and speaks volumes about just how little respect the government has for their people.

Please comment, listen and share, and thanks as always for your time 🙂

A Closing of the drysift Saga

Alright, this post has been long in coming, primarily because I’ve been a busy guy the past while. This topic deserves some kind of closer before I move on, considering the volume of traffic it generated and the strong feelings at play.

After the jump, I’ll throw up the links to the whole darn thing, as well as my articles on Occupy before my commentary. Those who are well and truly -done- with it all – never fear! You don’t have to hit ‘read more’.

There was also a show last night! I had fun, as did the 21 folks listening live. Many thanks to them!
